Waltershausen is the second largest town in the district of Gotha in the Free State of Thuringia. It lies between the Thuringian Basin in the north-east and the Thuringian Forest in the south-west.

The Evangelical-Lutheran town church ‘Zur Gotteshilfe’ in Waltershausen is the earliest Baroque central building in Thuringia. The town church is considered the forerunner of George Bähr's Dresden Frauenkirche. It houses the largest baroque organ of the Bach era in Thuringia. 3 minutes away

Our raptor sanctuary is a state-approved species conservation facility, falconry with flight demonstrations, breeding programmes and the reintroduction of injured birds of prey, whose occurrence, way of life, anatomy and breeding behaviour are explained.
